Innovative Grant Awards
The Innovative Grants program was established in 1998 to encourage teachers at all levels to be innovative in their approach to teaching; to help motivate and inspire their students to learn by developing an activity or approach outside the normal curriculum/teaching patterns.
Objective: To enhance learning; to foster creative problem solving; to inspire students; to create a dynamic learning environment.
Criteria:
- Capacity to inspire students and/or teachers to new avenues of learning and innovation.
- Demonstration of enhanced performance.
- Specific measurable outcomes.
- Positive impact on a specific student population.
- Numbers of students impacted by grant.
- Potential for replication or adaptation by others in the future.
Innovative Teacher Grants are awarded the second semester of each year. The Foundation normally earmarks $15,000 for Innovative Grants; though in some years that amount increases due to the quality of innovative proposals. Grants may range from $250-$5000. The grant process gives teachers a venue to creatively enhance the curriculum. It will be exciting to see what will be submitted this year! Recipients will be notified by the end of the school year.
