Jacquelyn Ramsdell

RamsdellThe Alamo Heights School Foundation was named as a recipient of a memorial endowment of more than $1.3 million from the estate of life-time San Antonio resident, Miss Jacquelyn E. Ramsdell.    The monies received will be used to establish a teaching position at Alamo Heights High School in the area of either Math or English.  The chaired position will be named The Glenn L. and Sally P. Ramsdell Memorial Chair, in memory of her parents.

Miss Ramsdell was a native of San Antonio; she attended Pine Manor after High School, and transferred to and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin.  During her early years, she developed a strong interest in math, and shared her parents’ love of education.  While she did not marry, Miss Ramsdell’s life was full of activities, starting with her participation in Fiesta festivities as a young girl.  She was a realtor with Jones King Realty, and brought a deep appreciation of the history of San Antonio to her profession, as well as her private life.  Ms Ramsdell thoroughly enjoyed clubs such as the History Club, for which she relished the research and presentation of papers.

Jackie Ramsdell sought to perpetuate the pursuit of excellence in education with gifts to three institutions upon her death, one of which was the Alamo Heights School Foundation.  Her individual pursuit and value of learning will live in the gifts she has made to the education of the children of AHISD.
