Oma E. Vordenbaum
Scholarship
In 1977, the AHSF, acting as trustee of the Ome E. Vordenbaum Trust, received from the Estate of Oma E. Vordenbaum $88,890.97 cash and 1/2 mineral interests in approximately 117.176 acres in Gonzales County, Texas. Mrs. Vordenbaum taught English and sponsored the Student Council at AHHS for many years. The first grants from this fund were awarded in 1978.
Description: The Vordenbaum monies are to help fund college expenses for qualified graduates of AHHS. One (or more) $2,000 scholarship is to be awarded per year. The typical applicant will probably rank in the top quarter of the senior class scholastically, participate in extracurricular activities, demonstrate a positive attitude toward school and education, and have financial need. Students must apply for this scholarship. Recipients are selected by the AHSF Board at a special meeting in late Spring, on the recommendation of the Scholarship Committee.
