Goal I. ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT
Provide academic excellence by actively engaging all students in a personally challenging curriculum

Areas of Focus

  1. Enhance success for all students by challenging students in a relevant, rigorous academic curriculum.
  2. Implement differentiated instruction and appropriate interventions and use various assessment strategies to monitor the ongoing progress of students.
  3. Strengthen partnerships with community colleges and other county-wide programs to promote continuing education.
  4. Focus on strategies that enhance reading comprehension and writing in the four core academic areas.
  5. Use technology, including online curriculum resources and video technology, as an integrated tool for learning and teaching across the curriculum.

 Goal II. WELLNESS
Provide a school climate that nurtures the emotional, social, and physical well-being of students and personnel

Areas of Focus

  1. Implement a consistent character education program, including academic integrity, at all levels and within all activities.
  2. Establish a school climate that respects all staff, students, parents, and community members.
  3. Plan and implement positive programs for health, fitness, and nutrition for students and staff.
  4. Provide assistance to teachers, students, and parents in stress management.
  5. Advocate respect for the mind, the body, and the laws relating to alcohol, drugs, violence, and criminal behavior.
  6. Uphold a philosophy of extracurricular activities which effects reasonable consistency in supporting the goals of learning and student health and welfare.
  7. Support strategies that ensure a safe, distraction-free learning environment.

 Goal III. ASSESSMENT/EVALUATION
Assess programs, student performance, support services, and evaluation strategies

Areas of Focus

  1. Utilize ongoing assessment data to drive the implementation of differentiated instruction.
  2. Review all assessment tools and practices, with emphasis on coordination for effectiveness and efficiency.
  3. Analyze data from comparable schools and districts to determine academic areas of success and needed improvement.
  4. Continue to evaluate programs, implement the recommendations, and determine the effectiveness of the interventions.

 Goal IV. COMMUNICATION
Strengthen communication, involvement, and cooperation among and within our schools, community, and support groups

Areas of Focus

  1. Promote effective and open communication, inclusive of students, parents, staff and community.
  2. Develop and implement strategies for marketing our schools, focusing on new state-of-the-art science and fine arts facilities.
  3. Utilize technology to promote means of communications that are efficient, effective, and user friendly, including online registration.
  4. Maintain broad-based participation of students, parents, personnel, and community members in school activities and programs.
  5. Recognize and celebrate the unique qualities and successes of students, personnel, schools, and community.

Goal V. HUMAN RESOURCES
Maximize human resources to effectively and efficiently address campus and AHISD goals

Areas of Focus

  1. Determine and use effective strategies to retain and recruit quality staff.
  2. Develop strategic plans for ever-changing staff to ensure continuous, stable professional development in support of student needs.
  3. Recognize and utilize the expertise of our exceptional and experienced staff to foster a continued legacy of professional excellence.
  4. Acknowledge community volunteers as valued resources in the school community.

 Goal VI. BUSINESS AND FINANCE
Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for managing financial resources and district facilities

Areas of Focus

  1. Achieve an appropriate balance between financial stability and meeting student needs.
  2. Complete the bond program and maximize the use of facilities to benefit students and the community.
  3. Coordinate non-tax revenues such as Parent Teacher Organizations, Alamo Heights School Foundation, Support Groups, grants, and other sources to maximize student benefits.
