But the most exciting, rewarding, and engaging Box Tops
program is Clipping the Box Tops.
To encourage students and staff to participate in the Box
Tops program, we have set up deadlines with prizes to recognize and reward students
and staff for collecting Box Tops. We had our first award ceremony at
the November 2005 Celebration of Learning event. Our second award ceremony will be at the April
2006 Celebration of Learning event. See
below for more details on dates and rewards.
How do you collect and submit the
Box Tops?
Cut out the Box Tops. Make sure they haven’t expired and the date
is visible. Count the Box Tops. Put the
Box Tops in an envelope or a Ziploc bag and label with the
child’s name, teacher’s name, grade, and number of Box Tops. Or, if
you are a Cambridge staff member, label the envelope or Ziploc bag with
“Staff Contest,” staff member’s name, and number of Box Tops.
Put the Ziploc bags
and envelopes in the Box Tops collection box near Nurse’s office. You can
submit them all year, and we’ll add them up!
NOTE:
Box Tops not in bags or envelopes and not properly labeled will not be
entered into the contests. Loose Box Tops will, however, be counted and
submitted towards the school’s Box Tops income and overall goal for the year. Please do not include Betty Crocker points.

Deadlines and prizes
The deadline for submitting Box Tops for the first award
ceremony was 14 October 2005. On 22 November
2005 at the Celebration of Learning, we announced the first winners. See below for the winners from the November
2006 award ceremony.
The next deadline for getting in Box Tops is 24 March
2006. The winners will be announced at
the Celebration of Learning on 27 April 2006.
The winning categories will be same as those in November 2005. However, the student who collects the most
Box Tops for the year gets to put a pie in the face of Mr. Mac.
But here is the ultimate
goal. If the school collects 100,000 Box
Tops (or $10,000) by the 19 May 2006, Mrs. Bashara will kiss a mule! The deadline for getting Box Tops in to
count for the overall school year goal is 17 May 2006. The last day to get Box Tops in before the
summer break is 25 May 2006.

So, how is our school doing?
As of 3 January 2006, we
have collected 8,400 Box Tops. That may
sound like a lot, and everyone has been working hard. However, that is only $840 worth of Box Tops towards
our goal of $10,000 (or 100,000 Box Tops).
If everyone brings in at least 7 Box Tops a week, we can make our goal!
For up-to-date stats, check out the
poster next to the Box Tops collection box near the Nurse’s office. The poster shows how we are doing in reaching
the overall school goal, how each class is doing, and how many Box Tops each
grade has collected.
