Meetings:

The next meeting of the Alamo Heights High School Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) will be Thursday, May 8th at 12:00 Noon in the Black Box Theater . Light Refreshments are provided. Bring your lunch if you like. Anyone may attend - Bring a friend.

There are always reports by various student leaders, Dr. Foster, representatives from academic departments, as well as committee chairmen for various PTSO activities.   Meeting minutes and agendas are archived on this website in Adobe Acrobat format.- We hope to see you there.

Due to construction, parking is limited! Please do not park in a teacher parking spot or on a yellow curb.  Also do not park in the athletic "jock" parking lot - that includes swimming pool "visitor" spots and the athletic office "visitor" spots.  Seniors park on Fair Oaks and Juniors park on Castano.

What does the PTSO do for AHHS?

Award gifts to AHHS...

o Awarded $14,000 in Scholarships to class of 2003

o Allocated $8,000 for student agendas to be given to every student

o Allocated $15,000 for curriculum needs and teacher requests to supplement classroom needs at the High School not covered by the AHISD budget

o Awarded $5,400 for Gift Certificates to teachers to use for their classrooms

o Added $2,000 to the PTSO Scholarship Endowment, increasing the Endowment to $65,500

 

Provides services while raising funds...

o Publishes the AHISD District Directory

o Orders and sells Required Reading Books at the beginning of school

o Operates the Muledome Concession Stand

o Maintains a Donations & Memorials program for honoring a family member, friend or special teacher with a contribution in their name to the AHHS Library, PTSO Scholarship Fund, or Grant in Aid

o Funds a Sponsor A Student Program to aid students with necessary expenses

 

Organizes and Funds Activities for Students, Teachers and Parents...

o Assists at Freshman/New Student Orientation

o Sponsors the Freshman Breakfast on the first day of school

o Hosts Back to School Night

o Sponsors the Safe Homes Program

o Provides the Back to School Luncheon for AHHS teachers, administrators and staff

o Assists with College Night

o Provides Teacher Appreciation gifts throughout the year

o Organizes Homecoming activities and the Homecoming Dance

o Sponsors the Junior/Senior Powder Puff Football Game

o Funds and organizes the Junior/Senior Prom

o Prepares the Senior Calendar Guide and offers e-mail updates for senior activities

o Organizes and funds the Senior Awards Ceremony

o Hosts the Memories Luncheon for Seniors and their families

 

Promotes Communication and Provides Volunteers...

o Publishes a newsletter sent to all AHHS families twice a year

o Publishes the AHHS Faculty Directory containing biographies and information on how best to contact each teacher

o Updates bulletin boards with information on school activities and honors

o Provides volunteers to assist with Textbook distribution and distribution of schedules during Prep Day

o Maintains the PTSO website
