School District and Community

The Alamo Heights Independent School District serves the communities of Alamo Heights, Olmos Park, Terrell Hills and a portion of north San Antonio. These communities provide a diverse tapestry against which the Alamo Heights Independent School District shapes its mission to encourage high expectations for all its students. The district was founded in 1909 as a rural school district and became an independent school district in 1923. Approximately 29,737 people live in the district, which covers an area of 9.4 square miles. One early childhood center, two elementary schools, one junior school, and one senior high school accommodate the districts enrollment of 4,545 students.
