Grading System/Rank-in-class

Only numerical grades are reported to the students and recorded on the Academic Achievement Record (transcript). All credit courses taken in grades 9-12 are included in grade averaging, except for correspondence courses, credit-by-exam, night school courses, Robbins Academy courses and summer school courses taken outside of the Alamo Heights ISD (effective Summer, 1996). Since December, 1993, grade averages have been and continue to be computed two ways: one grade average includes PE/PE Equivalent grades and the other one does not include PE/PE Equivalent grades. The higher of the two resulting ranks-in-class is reported on the transcript. Two-hour vocational subjects have a course value of two per semester; three credit co-op subjects, three. All PreAP/AP course grades of 80 or above are weighted (10) ten points in the determination of the rank-in-class. A grade of 75-79 in PreAP/AP courses is weighted five (5) points. An average of 80 or higher in enriched courses is weighted five (5) points. The weighted grades are used in computing grade average and rank-in-class; however numerical grades on the transcript do not reflect the added points.

A=90-100
