Abigail lived most of her life in Boston but lived her earlier years in Weymouth, Massachusetts. She was a very bright girl, but her formal education was limited as a child. She was very sickly so her mother kept her from attending public schools.
John, her husband, was very popular and was nominated for Congress. He was elected, and when he was called away for war he took John Quincy with him, and Abigail was heartbroken. They kept up with each other only through letters, and that was a big obstacle for their marriage.
She believed in women's rights as well as blacks rights When she got older she wrote letters to congress about the matter.
