King
David

|
Early
Years
In David's early years he was a
shepherd boy for his father, Jesse. He was very faithful to
God. He thought that the Lord was the shepherd, not him, and
people were the lambs. In Psalm 23 he wrote, " The Lord is
my shepherd, I shall not want." God chose him to be king
after Saul, the one chosen by the people. Saul was a tall,
handsome but angry man. So David had to soothe Saul with his
lyre, an instrument like a harp.

Middle
Years
When David was in his middle years he
faced Goliath, a 9' 9'' giant. All David had was a sling and
five stones. Goliath had a spear, a sword, and loads of
armor. David had more; he had the Lord. He slew Goliath with
one stone, and he cut his head off with Goliath's own
sword.

Later
Years
When Saul was killed in battle David
became king. He had three wives named Michal, Abigail, and
Bathsheba whom he stole from Uriah, a friend that he
betrayed. His children were Absalom, Adonijah, Amnon,
Solomon, and Tamar, Absalom's twin. He remained king of
Israel for thirty three years until he died around 1000
