Abe Lincoln was known as a lawyer and a politician, but he had many other talents. He was also the tallest US president, measuring in at 6'4" tall and weighing 180 pounds. In his early years, Lincoln moved around the country a lot. He was stronger and could jump higher than all the other boys that lived around his him. He was also very popular and readily attracted friends. Abe loved to read, and he would walk miles and miles just to borrow a book. Yet somehow, he would return it in mint condition.
A major obstacle was slavery. Abe hated slavery. He despised it in every way. Another difficulty was the Civil War. The war began at Fort Sumter on April 12, 1861.
