Early Years

Annie Oakley (born as Phoebe Ann Moses) was very talented. She was short, about five feet as an adult. Annie was the third child out of six in her Quaker family. She had one younger brother, two younger sisters, and two older sisters. She first picked up a gun when she was nine. She shot animals for her family to eat. What she didn't need she sold. Annie thought that girls should be allowed to shoot as well as boys.

When Annie was six her dad was in a blizzard and eventually died of pneumonia. Annie's step dad also died. Finally, Annie's mom married someone who didn't die.
