
Clive Lewis was born November 29, 1999 to Albert and Florence Lewis. When Clive Was seven years old his mother died. He took his mother's death very hard. Then in the same year his uncle and grandpa died. After his mother's death he became close to his father.
Lewis passed an examination for an Oxford scholarship, and Lewis became a student at Oxford. At the outbreak of World War I Lewis enlisted in the British Army and was billeted to Oxford for officer training. Lewis was injured during the Battle of Arass. In the same battle Lewis' former roommate and friend, Paddy, died. Lewis was discharged in 1919.
After college he started to write. The February issue of Reveal contained Lewis' essay called "Death in Battle", his first publication of anything besides school magazines. W.T. Kirkpatrick became a very good friend of Lewis . When he died in 1921 Lewis wrote another essay called Optimism ( which won the English Essay Prize) dedicated to W. T. Kirkpatrick. Then Albert Lewis died on September 24, 1929. Lewis became a Christian when J.R.Tolkien and Hugo Dyson had a talk on Christianity. They convinced him that there was a God and his son was Jesus. He then chronicled his return to Christ by writing many Christian books.
In 1956 Lewis married Joy Davidman. It started off strong and got stronger, When their marriage was at a high point Joy died of cancer. This news made Lewis confused and unhappy. He was also confused about his relationship to God. Lewis died on November 22, 1963, a week shy of his sixty- fifth birthday.
