Cleopatra VII was born in 33 BC as a strong willed intelligent child. In an age when women were illiterate she knew eight languages, and when most noblemen were well educated she was also. Cleopatra learned how to rule a country by watching her father during his weakling rein. She was also the only one of her family to take the trouble of learning the language of the land of Egypt over which she ruled.

It's thought that Cleopatra made a contribution to the literary world by writing a book of cosmetics (a subject she was very keen about.) One of her great treasures was the Alexandrian library, which attracted scholars from about the globe.

Cleopatra traditionally married her ten-year-old brother Ptolemy XIII whom she despised and only got along by pretending he simply did not exist. Potomac, fearing her ambition, with the aid of his advisors overtook the young queen and drove her from Egypt.

Cleopatra quickly recovered when she soon found an opportunity of ally. Caesar, one of Rome's most powerful general's of all the Roman army was visiting in Alexandria. By way of servant and Oriental rug, she smuggled herself into Creaser's quarters. Caesar was immediately in raveled in Cleopatra's charm and intelligence. Thus they became lovers and soon they were traditionally married and more importantly allies. Cleopatra's dream was slowly piecing together. With Caesar loyally by her side they soon defeated Ptolemy XIII's armies. Ptolemy was also later found mysteriously drowned in the Nile River.

On a higher note Cleopatra had a baby boy named Caesarian. Cleopatra's fame and gossip of her and Caesar joining alliances soon spread across Rome and the senate was outraged.

Soon Caesar greatly regretted not paying more attention to a beggar woman's words, " Beware the ides of March. For on that dreadful day the men of the senate some of which were his dearest friends murdered Caesar.Cleopatra was devastated but was soon to gain relations with yet another man., Marc Antony. Antony and Cleopatra loved each other very much and soon had three children including two twins.

This happiness was not to last for long for soon general Octavian (Caesar's grand nephew) rose up against them and in the final battle (The battle of Actium) Octavian's army beat Cleopatra and Antony's. Cleopatra begged Octavian to let her children rule after her but he refused.

After hearing false reports of his dearest Cleopatra being dead, Antony fell on his sword living just long enough to see and die in his love's arms. When Cleopatra realized that she would have to walk in chains in Octavian's triumph Cleopatra made a crucial decision. After research in the non-painful ways to die Cleopatra along with her most faithful servants had poisonous asps brought in and killed herself. She died at the young age of 39 in 30 BC.
