Dr. Jones has served in this position since August, 2004. He was raised in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, where he graduated from Pequannock Township High School in 1988. At Pequannock, he was President of his sophomore, junior and senior classes. He played on the basketball team that compiled the best record in school history and on the tennis team where he holds the school record for wins in a career. He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Davidson College. At Davidson, he served as president of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He earned two Master’s degrees from Trinity University (Master’s of Arts and Teaching and a Master’s in Education Administration). In 2004 he earned his Doctorate from Texas A&M University in Education Administration. In 2005, Dr. Jones became published with his article, “Spanish Immersion and the Academic Success of Students in Alamo Heights”. He is married to Catherine since 1993, and has a son and a daughter, Landon and Caspin. Dr. Jones taught eighth grade U.S. History in San Antonio ISD at Longfellow Middle School prior to becoming an administrative assistant at Thomas Jefferson High School, also in SAISD. In 1998, Dr. Jones joined the ranks of Alamo Heights ISD as an assistant principal at Alamo Heights HS before becoming principal of Woodridge in 2004. Additionally, Dr. Jones teaches at the University of Texas at San Antonio in the Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching Department, as well as at the Region XX Service Center for Alternative Certification. In 2005, Dr. Jones was selected to the planning board of Trinity University’s Principal Center for Professional Development. In his spare time, Dr. Jones enjoys being with family and friends, playing ice hockey, reading and toying with political aspirations.
