In an effort to provide
additional support to parents and children in the special
education program, AHISD has three parent liaisons, Katherine Joyce,Trudy Songco, and Tracy Maxwell. Their role is
to assist parents and staff with communication, advocacy,
resources and support.
Katherine, Trudy, and Tracy bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to their position. All three are parents of children with special challenges and have been very involved in their educational experience. As Parent Liaisons they work with parents to form support networks, and address concerns and communication issues that pertain to special education students and families in the district. With offices at the EDC, they have created a resource library for parents and staff and are frequently called to help with ongoing activities in the department. They will continue to create opportunities for parents to gather, get to know each other, and share common concerns. They are excited about
working with special children and their families. They
welcome your ideas, your questions and your concerns.
