Alamo Heights ISD is pleased to serve as the mentor district to Nixon-Smiley CISD in the Connections Grant through TEA. The focus of this grant project, called School2Home, is to help students and teachers expand the learning from the schoolhouse to home and beyond. In NSCISD, students in grades 7-12 were issued MacBooks in a 1:1 environment. In AHISD, students are allowed to bring their own wireless devices (laptops, iPads, iPod Touches and smart phones) to school for educational purposes. The district will also provide netbooks with broadband cards to those students who do not have access to this technology at home.
In addition to providing access to students, this grant will also provide for professional development for teachers and administrators in both districts.
If you are interested in visiting Alamo Heights ISD to see how learning is enhanced by technology, please contact the Technology Department at 210-832-5780 or email Dee Oliver, secretary ( ) or Jennifer Faulkner, Director of Technology ( ).
