Dr. Kevin Brown has announced that two principals are moving to new campuses in Alamo Heights ISD beginning this summer:
1. Stephanie Kershner, Principal at Alamo Heights Junior School, will be moving to Howard Early Childhood Center, replacing Dan Bolen who is retiring at the end of the year. Mrs. Kershner has been principal at the Junior School for seven years where she has been very successful. She has experience with early childhood education having served as an elementary assistant principal as well as the director of a prestigious pre-school center in the past. She is excited about the opportunity to to work at Howard and work with the outstanding students and staff there. As the mother of three children, she is also looking forward to having fewer night events at school so that she can spend time with her family.
2. Dr. Cordell Jones, Principal at Woodridge Elementary School, will begin serving as principal at Alamo Heights Junior School. Dr. Jones has been the principal at Woodridge for eight years and is looking forward to this new challenge. Previous to being at Woodridge, he served as assistant principal at Alamo Heights High School for five years. Many of the students and parents at the Junior School know Dr. Jones well, and he will be a superb principal there.
We will now turn our attention to conducting interviews for the Woodridge ES Principal vacancy. Woodridge is an outstanding campus and we will be searching for a very strong principal to continue the great work being done for children there.
Although both principals are excited about their new positions, they are also sad to leave the schools they love. Please join Dr. Brown in congratulating them both for their new positions and supporting them as they begin new challenges.
