District News: AHISD Announces New Head Football Coach

Alamo Heights ISD has selected Mike Norment to serve as the new Head Football Coach for Alamo Heights High School.

Coach Norment most recently served as the Mules' Offensive Coordinator.  He has been with AHISD for sixteen years, serving as both a coach and teacher during his tenure. He has worked alongside a strong team of assistant coaches that work well together, a tradition he wants to continue. Norment served on the coaching staff that led the Mules to their Class 4-A Division I Football State Championship in 2006.

A selection committee reviewed many talented applicants from across the state and interviewed the top candidates.  Mike Norment clearly emerged as the best fit for our successful program.  He understands the importance of high academic and ethical standards, he supports all other sports and extracurricular programs, and he knows how to win.

The Alamo Heights ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the hiring of Norment earlier today.  There will be a reception for staff and the general public tomorrow, April 18, 2012 at the High School Oaks Room from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Congratulations to Coach Norment!  We look forward to continued excellence in our football program under his leadership.  Go Mules!
