Endowment Management

The Alamo Heights School Foundation has provided significant support for students and teachers in the AHISD for over thirty years.  The Foundation is committed to furthering the AHISD mission of encouraging high expectations for all students in a supportive, nurturing environment and maximizing individual student potential through challenging curricula and access to the latest technology.  The AHSF Endowment Fund will provide a new avenue in which supporters of outstanding public education can significantly impact the AHISD.  An investment in the Endowment Fund is also an investment in the future of the Alamo Heights community, and the lifestyle and property values we enjoy.

Endowment income is distributed to the AHISD in the form of salaries for Endowed teacher positions, named grants for teachers, and named scholarships for AHHS graduates.

An example of the long-term impact the Endowment has on the AHISD is the establishment of the Foundation’s first Endowed Chair.  In 2007, the AHSF established the Teacher for Academic Excellence in Science at Alamo Heights High School.  This position was created to be more than just a teaching position.  The faculty member filling this position will not only bring superior knowledge and skills in the field of science to the AHISD, but will serve as an inspiration to students to become future leaders in the sciences.  This faculty member will also be charged with networking with our local scientific community to facilitate real-life opportunities for high school students interested in scientific fields.  This position was filled for the first time during the 2007 – 2008 school year by Jenny Casares.

Contributors to the Endowment Fund will provide a stable, long-term funding base for programs that will enable the AHISD to continue offering outstanding public education in the 21st century despite financial restrictions placed on the district by the state.  A gift to the Alamo Heights School Foundation Endowment Fund is a uniquely effective way to ensure that our public schools remain the foundation of our "Alamo Heights" quality of life and sense of community.
