Marking 100 years as a school district is no small feat! Celebrating the achievement will require a year of events and activities to honor the many moments in history that have made the Alamo Heights Independent School District a premiere district, built on the tradition of excellence.

On January 29, 2009, the district kicked-off the celebratory Centennial Year with a dinner honoring those whose volunteerism and dedication helped shape AHISD: the past and present Board Of Trustees. Members of the school boards from yesterday joined together with the district's current members and administration to remember the many great accomplishments of a district whose beginnings date back to 1909. Past board members learned of the challenges that the district faces today and how the work of those in the past have contributed to the many successes that we celebrate today. Superintendent, Dr. Kevin Brown spoke of the district's recent accomplishments and shared the vision for the future, which is currently being shaped by the entire educational community through the strategic planning process.

The evening provided a chance to look back upon the early years with a historic video presentation and a chance to look forward, as guests shared the plans for celebrating a centennial and continuing a tradition of educational excellence: taking the district to historic new "Heights".
