Programa
de inmersión de español en Alamo Heights
Alamo Heights
Spanish Immersion Program
The Spanish Immersion program is designed for English-speaking students who wish to become fluent in Spanish. Students enter the program in first grade. The curriculum for language arts/reading, mathematics, science and social studies is delivered entirely in Spanish in first grade and until midyear of second grade. English is introduced in the spring semester of second grade. Students are expected to continue in the program until fifth grade.
Students have the option of continuing in the middle school and high school program. In sixth grade students may take Spanish Immersion Science and/or Spanish Immersion Social Studies. The offering for seventh grade includes Spanish Immersion Social Studies and Spanish Language Arts. The program will be continued in grades 8-12 in the Languages Other than English department.
The goals of the program are for students to develop the ability to communicate in Spanish on a level similar to that of a student the same age who is a native Spanish speaker. The curriculum parallels that offered in the regular program.
The program is available at both Cambridge and Woodridge Elementary Schools and at Alamo Heights Junior School.
