Spotlight on Excellence
Cristie Christopher, Instructional Coach at Alamo Heights Junior School, was honored as the April Spotlight on Excellence recipient.
TAFE National Qualifiers
Three AHHS students are Texas Association of Future Educators National Qualifiers. Lillian McRae and Paisley Dusek qualified in the Varsity Division in the Bulletin Boards category. Ella Martin qualified in the Junior Varsity division in the Exploring Administrative Careers category.
State Odyssey of the Mind
This Spring, 9 teams represented AHISD at the State Odyssey of the Mind Competition. They are from Cambridge, Woodridge and the Junior School. One team - Pre-K DJs from Cambridge - also qualified for Worlds competition.
Cambridge teams are Pneumonias, Disco Worms, "Loco" Motives, Junior Geniuses, and Pre-K DJs.
Woodridge teams are Preppy Pickles, Bluey Baddies, and Party Goers
The Junior School team is Epics vs Society.
UIL State Solo and Ensemble Qualifiers - Band, Choir, Orchestra and Piano
The following students qualified for the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest for Band: Scarlett Alvarez, Parker Franklin, Julian Mendoza, Miriam Nathan, Mason Rosado, Caleb Tardy, and Logan Thompson.
The following students qualified for the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest for Choir: Katie Allison, Madi Dougherty, Sebastian Mireles, Andrew Perez, Abby Windscheffel, Elanor Yun, and Meri Chung.
The following students qualified for the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest for Orchestra: Lucas Bowling, Helena Castano, Jessica Hall, Elaina Kindt, Ben Klopfenstein, Lauren Nash, Carter Richardson, John Stamps, Chloe Vaupel, and Aiden Williams.

State ColorGuard
The Winter Guard placed 3rd in their division at the Texas Educational Colorguard Association State Competition. Bronze medalist team members are: Mia Allen, Kade Bartlett, Taylor Cawthon, Reese Fagan, Kiera Iruegas, Mikaleah Isaac, Alibel McLendon, Charlotte Miller, Alexys Shelton, Adielle Tijerina, Isabella Villanueva and Angelina Zuniga.
Spurs State and National Competition
The Spurs Dance Team, under the direction of Luisa Hidalgo, earned state and national recognition this year including state and national championships for officers. Spurs Dance team members are: Mariah Garner, Maddie McDonald, Madison Ritchie, Jamison Cummings, Denise Dobson, Caroline Drake, Juliette Drake, Isabella Sanchez, Jessica Tovar, Ella Lyssy, Kylie Atkinson, Eva Lake, Ella De La Garza, Sofia Tozzi, and Riley Deaver.

AHHS Student Council Vice President Lindsey Lam shared an update with Trustees.
Other Board Action and Presentations
Trustees approved the 2026 Senior Gift, a tree-wrapped bench to be placed in the new Oaks area on campus accompanied by a commemorative plaque, as presented by Senior Class Officers.
Julie Ann Matonis, Director of Communications, presented a department Community Based Accountability System (CBAS) report.
Trustees approved library book purchases, approved a resolution nominating Dr. Bashara for TASB Superintendent of the Year, and approved an Interlocal Agreement between AHISD and the City of Alamo Heights. They reviewed a report on Board Member Continuing Education Requirements and approved Board Operating Procedures.
Trustees approved revisions to local policies CE, CH, DNA, BQ, BQA, BQB, DGBA, EEB, and FNG, and GF.
Trustees approved the purchase of property located at 7535 N. New Braunfels and the purchase of additional safety film for windows.
Trustees approved the 2026-27 PreK tuition rate for $7,000 per student. This is an increase of $616 from the 2025-26 rate.
Donations were accepted from the AHJS PTO, AHHS sports, and Howard PTO.The accepted donations totaled $139,331.56.
Trustees accepted reports from the Building, Policy, Goals and Priorities, and Assessment and Long Range Planning committees; and District Education Advisory Council.
