Cambridge Elementary and Howard Early Childhood Center have been recognized as 2024 State Schools of Character by the organization

This is the second time both schools have earned this distinction. Both were first recognized in 2019. Woodridge was named a State School of Character in 2020. certifies schools and districts each year at the state level that have developed and implemented an intentional, proactive, and comprehensive approach that embeds character into all aspects of school life. This year, 87 schools earned this recognition from across the United States.

The State School of Character designation is valid for five years and both schools are now eligible to be considered for National School of Character designation. National School of Character is the highest honor bestowed upon schools by The 2024 National Schools of Character will be announced in May.

Alamo Heights ISD has partnered with since October 2016 to implement the 11 Principles of Effective Character Education. Last summer, five district initiatives were recognized as 2023 Promising Practices.
