
Seven campus initiatives have been recognized as 2026 Promising Practices by the organization Character.org. Alamo Heights High School, Alamo Heights Junior School, and Cambridge Elementary were honored for practices that demonstrated significant impact and strongly align with principles that help schools cultivate a culture of character.
This year, 230 schools and organizations from across the United States were recognized as Promising Practices including 7 from Alamo Heights ISD.
Alamo Heights High School was recognized for three initiatives:
- Student Ambassadors
- ‘09 Tutoring
- Running with Ricketts and Crew
Alamo Heights Junior School was recognized for three initiatives:
- Leader of Leaders
- E-Sports- Building Character through Teamwork, Competition and Belonging
- MuleTime Media- Student-Led Storytelling that Builds Character and Community
Cambridge Elementary was honored for their Cambridge News Network.
Since October 2016, Alamo Heights ISD has partnered with Character.org to implement the 11 Principles of Effective Character Education. All five campuses, as well as the district, have been recipients of the Character.org Promising Practice Award for various initiatives that promote character development.
