Tory Carr, SST Teacher at Cambridge, was honored as the March Spotlight on Excellence recipient.
Powering the Profile
James Robles, fifth grade teacher at Woodridge, was recognized for Powering the Profile for embodying the AHISD Profile of a Learner. Visit the AHISD YouTube channel for a video showing how he empowers students to ‘think critically and creatively.’
JROTC National Air Rifle Championships
Logan Watson represented AHISD at the JROTC National Air Rifle Championships. In his first appearance on the national stage, Logan competed in the Army Precision category alongside the top air rifle shooters from across the nation.
State Swim and Dive
The Board recognized the swimmer and diver who qualified for last month’s UIL State Swimming and Diving Meet. Freshman Henry Tucker won 5th place in 1 meter diving and senior Beau Henning competed in the 100 yard breaststroke.
TAFE National Qualifiers
Three AHHS students are Texas Association of Future Educators National Qualifiers. Senior Jackson Moore and junior Logan Baker qualified in the Varsity Division in the Teacher Created Materials category. Sophomore Isabella Garza is a JV Division National Qualifier in Children's Lit Pre-K.
Battle of Flowers Essay Contest Winner
Mahalia Hudson, 7th grader at The Junior School, won first place in the public school division of the Battle of Flowers Associations' Annual Texas History Essay Contest. She was honored at a ceremony at The Alamo last month, and will ride in the Battle of Flowers parade.

Annabelle Charlton, Secretary of the Alamo Heights High School Student Council, shared the March update with Trustees.
Other Board Action and Presentations
Trustees received an update on Bond 2023 Construction with current projects at Alamo Heights HS and projects scheduled to begin this spring at Cambridge, Woodridge, and the AHISD Athletic Complex at Robbins. The update was presented by Bond Construction Manager Mike Hager.
Trustees approved the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for Cambridge portables - 2 portable buildings with 4 classrooms. Construction will begin in May as part of Bond Project 2. Bond Construction Updates are available on the District website.
Ron Rittimann, Athletic Director, Jennifer Fox, Assistant Athletic Director, and Dr. Frank Alfaro, Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services, presented an Athletics Department Community Based Accountability System (CBAS) report.
Dr. Jimmie Walker, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, presented an overview of results from the Feedback February survey. More than 1,800 parents, 3,200 students, and 500 teachers participated in the annual survey. The results will be communicated, analyzed, and used for planning and improvement in the coming months.
Matt Streger, Chief Financial Officer, presented a Budget 2025 Planning Update. It remains an active time in the Legislature, with no clear outcomes yet in terms of impact on public schools and funding. AHISD enrollment and attendance rate have increased in the 2024-2025 school year, which may provide an increase in some funding if the trend continues. This presentation included the recommendation to move forward with the Tier III planning cuts in preparing the budget for 2025-2026.
Trustees approved a copier procurement, ClassLink subscription renewal, and the purchase of device refreshes for classroom iPads PK 2 and special program classrooms, student devices for the high school art department, CTE classroom laptops, and staff laptops. The new devices will be purchased with Bond 2023 funds.
Trustees approved the next issuance of bonds in the amount of $70 million. It was presented by Duane Westerman from SAMCO Capital.
Trustees accepted reports from the Building, Budget, Goals and Priorities, and Assessment and Long Range Planning committees; and Alamo Heights School Foundation.
