Students NEW to Alamo Heights ISD in grades 9 - 12 who desire to seek GT placement will be tested during the summer (typically at the end of May and end of July) prior to the new school year.  

Students may begin signing up for testing AFTER they are pre–registered and/or registered for the upcoming school year. A GT Testing Permission Form (link at bottom of page) must be submitted by the established deadline to sign up for testing.

Please note that students take the entire CogAT battery, as well as the Iowa subject areas (Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies) that align with their GT interests. The CogAT assessment typically takes 1.5 - 2 hours, while the Iowa assessment can take up to 4 hours depending on the different subtests the student is taking.

* GT testing occurs across multiple days, so the testing will be split with CogAT on one day and Iowa on another day.

May 26 - May 27, 2026 (deadline to register is Friday, May 22nd at 5 pm)

July 29 - July 30, 2026 (deadline to register is Friday, July 24th at 5 pm)
