Parents
or guardians are to call the school on a daily basis to report their
child's absence prior to or shortly within the hour after school
begins. The secretaries are available as early as 7:30 a.m. We request the reason
for the child's absence and identification of the person reporting. If the exact number of
days is known that the child will be absent, the parent can inform the school
of that information and therefore will not have to call to report on a daily basis. Parents should send in a note when their child
returns to school. If their child has been absent for an extended
period of time due to an illness it is advantageous to bring in a
note from their physician. A note from the doctor excuses their
child's absence.
There are reasons for a
child to be absent other than illness, such as vacation, doctor
appointments, personal reasons, funerals, and other miscellaneous
reasons. The majority of children are absent on average, less
than eight days for the entire school year. If your child's total absences total more than 10 days a letter will be sent home.
One of the goals for our school is 98% attendance for the year!
