The Alamo Heights ISD Medical Advisory Committee will be holding an informative presentation/Q&A session on Monday, December 18, from 6-7 p.m. in the Alamo Heights High School Auditorium Foyer. Our target audience is the athletic student population and their parents, but all are welcome to attend!
The goal of the AHISD Medical Advisory Committee is to enhance the health and safety of its students of all grade levels, particularly the physically active and athletic population (this is not limited to AHJS and AHHS athletes).
The committee is made up of members of the AHISD athletic training staff and team physicians, as well as other medical professionals who live in the community and work with our students.
Some of the topics the committee would like to address include (but not limited to):
• Athletic Trainers (What are they and how can they help the student athlete?)
• Biomechanical faults, starting with the food and the effect on athletic performance
• Flexibility/Yoga/Core strengthening and stabilization
• Multi-sport vs. single-sport athletic participation
• Basic first aid & treatment of athletic injuries
• Nutrition & Hydration
• Concussions
• Weight lifting
• Sleep Shoes
• (Other topics will be added based on interest)
